Today we went kayaking on the Little Miami River.

It was my first time going kayaking, so it was a new experience for me. I have also never been canoeing or rowing. It was really calming to just sit there in the kayak and listen to the sounds coming from your surroundings. I heard the water rushing, birds chirping, and some rustling coming from the trees. I also saw a lot of turtles, and saw mini fish and shells in the water. My allergies were acting up pretty bad too; I was coughing and sneezing. There were also times when we would get out of our kayaks and just play in the creek water. It was kind of cold, but also refreshing. Overall, kayaking was pretty fun, but could also be pretty tiring at times. At the beginning of the day, we had to write a recipe poem. I wrote one about an ocean. Here's mine:
How to Make an Ocean
You will need:
· Water
· Sea Salt
· Sharks
· Dolphins
· Shrimp
· Other sea critters
· Plants
· Sand
· Algae
· Darkness
· Oxygen
· Carbon Dioxide
· Rocks and stuff
· A large space to put your ocean
· The Sun
How to make an ocean:
1. Take at least 500 gallons of water (depends on how big you want your ocean), and put it in a large bowl.
2. Sprinkle in 100 gallons of salt; the oceans like to be salty.
3. Mix that together with a metal whisk.
4. Carefully put in a cup of oxygen and a cup of carbon dioxide; you don’t want anything to spill.
5. Sprinkle rocks and stuff into the bowl.
6. Mix it up again with the same whisk you used earlier.
7. Take the bowl and the rest of the unused ingredients to the large place that you’re planning to put the ocean.
8. Sprinkle 4 gallons of sand on the floor of the large space.
9. Add a cup of algae into the space and let it do its thing.
10. Randomly sprinkle plants into the space; make sure they’re evenly spaced out, they’ll go where they need to go.
11. Add enough cups of darkness to cover the bottom half of the large space.
12. Pour your water mix into the large space.
13. Add in sharks, dolphins, shrimp, and your other sea critters; they’ll go off to wherever they need to go.
14. Make sure the sun is shining on your river to make it the perfect temperature.
You now have an ocean!
